The foundation on which this strategy is built is on the belief that strong, well-governed Credit Unions, led by volunteers and retaining their local identity should remain an important part of the financial landscape of Ireland.

Under the EU/IMF ‘Programme of Financial Support for Ireland’ the Credit Union Sector has been identified by external authorities to be an integral part of the economic recovery of Ireland.  

The Credit Union Sector is effectively the fourth de-facto banking force within Ireland today.  More and more people are turning to their Credit Union for their day to day banking, private saving/investments and private lending.

Members feel that because the ethos of the Credit Union movement is a Not For Profit organisation, owned by its members and operated by its members, its perceived integrity is above reproach.

Therefore if Credit Unions are to develop and take advantage of Irelands changing financial landscape, it is vitally important that your Credit Union has a clear strategy over the short, medium and long term periods.

In order to complete the goals the Credit Union wants to achieve, a roadmap must be drawn-up with clear, objectives, targets, timelines etc.  In this regard WDA can assist the Credit Union in drafting this Strategic Plan.
